The fourth installment in the Diablo series is known to have an expansive map, just like the previous games. And getting from one point to the other is no mean feat. Since you can't access horses as of now, traveling around the overworld of Diablo 4 can take an excruciating amount of time. But the Fast Travel system features in the game make it easier to explore this vast world. In this article, we will show you how to unlock them.
Unlock Waypoints
In Diablo 4, fast travel is done through Waypoints. You can find them in towns and villages. You must activate each Waypoint you come across. After interacting with a Waypoint, choose another one from the ones visible on the world map.
However, remember that the waypoint feature is unlocked only after completing the first quest. You will have to complete the first dungeon by defeating its boss. Then, you must head to Kyovashad – a militaristic settlement and the capital of the Fractured Peaks. After reaching Kyovashad, you will unlock the Fast Travel feature and can travel to only seven particular locations. Here are all of them in Diablo 4:
Kyovashad
Menestad
Bear Tribe Refuge
Yelesna
Margrave
Nevesk
Nostrava
Use Town Portal
You don't have access to the Town Portal function in Diablo 4 right from the start. First, players must complete the game's Prologue and head to Fractured Peaks' central hub, Kyovashad. From here, you will get the Missing Pieces quest. This short quest provided by Lorath Nahr at the Stables simply tasks you with speaking to a Merchant, buying Lorath's Polearm for 20 Gold, then returning it to Lorath. Once completed, all functions in Kyovashad will open up, including the ability to use a Town Portal.
You can use the Town Portal to, well, return to town. This is handy for quickly finishing up quests by returning to a specific quest-giver in a town or leaving a dungeon, selling your loot, and more.
Quickly Leaving Dungeons
Diablo 4 has quite extensive dungeons. Two ways players can get out of a dungeon quickly are to select the entrance from their map and choose the "Leave" prompt or pick the "Leave Dungeon" option from the Action Wheel Menu. Using the "tab" input on PC opens up a map of whatever region the player is in, a quick shortcut akin to the inventory or character skill point menu in Diablo 4. Moving the dungeon map around and picking the gate icon mentioned beforehand gives players a choice to leave the dungeon after a short time, indicated by a progress bar that builds up above a character when selected.
While players are certainly capable of clicking the entrance icon, the Action Wheel is a much faster choice since it gives an option right away. Even if players have fully traversed a dungeon, they can press the "E" input to bring up the Action Wheel, which has numerous actions available such as emotes, a camera zoom-in, invitations to other players, or even a way to disable chat in Diablo 4. To the immediate right, the "Leave Dungeon" choice can be seen next to a picture of broken stairs, initiating the same progress bar when selected to let players leave the dungeon fast in Diablo 4.
